Calm waters and jungle shorelines

The day began before sunrise with a long, sleepy bus ride through Colón Province, the morning light slowly spilling across the landscape. At the pier, anticipation stirred as everyone stepped onto the boat, ready to glide across the calm waters of the Panama Canal.

Boat ride

Sailing upstream the Panama Canal

The canal winds through emerald jungle, its surface reflecting the sky in gentle ripples. Birds dart above, and the hum of the forest blends with the soft splash of water against the boat. Every turn reveals a new corner of untouched nature.

Exploration

Wildlife and Nature Reserve

Life thrives in every corner of the reserve. Monkeys twist and leap effortlessly through the canopy, their chatter echoing through the trees. Tropical birds flit like living jewels between sun-dappled branches, while the forest floor hides winding trails and secluded clearings, each turn offering a new glimpse of the jungle’s quiet magic.

Sanctuary

The observation tower awaits

A winding trail cuts through the dense jungle, leading up to the observation tower perched above the canopy. At the entrance to the reserve, hummingbirds flit around the feeders like sparks of light, offering perfect moments for photography. From the top of the tower, the panorama opens onto the vast green forest and the waterways of the Panama Canal, a scene where every detail of jungle and water reveals itself in quiet splendor.

Discovery

Another Day Beneath the Sun

The bus first stops at the wildlife center, where colorful frogs and fascinating butterflies capture the eye. The journey continues to a small, quiet village of a few dozen inhabitants, where families go about their day, chickens roam freely, and children play in the sun. From there, a winding trail leads into the jungle to an impressive waterfall, its clear waters inviting a refreshing swim under the warm sun, accompanied by a cold cerveza.
